Education:

  • Applicants must possess a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or similar science equivalent.
  • Degree can be substituted by 10+ years’ experience in configuring and/or maintaining Tactical Networks equipment.

Experience and Qualifications:

Required:

  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering processes and methodologies to include military network and communications systems engineering.
  • Knowledge of Regional Hub Node (RHN), Inc1, Inc 2, and SATCOM systems, to include Cisco, Brocade, Juniper networking devices, is required.
  • Experience with CISCO devices and software, including call manager VoIP platforms, firewalls, routers, and switches.
  • Knowledge of Promina Mux, McAfee Anti-Virus, intrusion prevention devices, REDCOM, and multiple fault isolation, network monitoring, and maintenance software or platforms.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware using software and test equipment, analyzing links bit error rates, routing, and reliability of hardware.

Desired: 

  • Knowledge of initial installation, configuration and reconfiguration of all Tactical Networks systems. 
  • Ability to resolve network and equipment issues for all Tactical Networks equipment.
  • Knowledge of multiple operating systems and an understanding of military mission command applications and IA, and BVTC programs.
  • Specialized experience gained performing work as an engineer in industry or as a military member within an active, reserve or National Guard unit is desired.
  • Experience in acquisition (Systems Planning, Research, Development and Engineering [SPRDE]).

Description of Work:

  • The Network Field engineer will provide field and test support for the Army Client's communications network.
  • Identify and report problems, units’ concerns and discrepancies, manage and document systems configurations, trouble incidents, test procedures, and test execution/results, coordinate system development tasks with other program engineering leads based on integration challenges and/or new requirements, provide oversight of the development and testing of SATCOM systems, baseband networking equipment, and software development for the core Tactical Networks systems.
  • Serve as focal point and subject matter expert for the Program Manager Tactical Networks (PM-TN) as a Field Systems Engineer in support for INC 1, INC 2, and SATCOM networks.
  • Tasks will consist of and not limited to assisting and advising assigned units with technical, operational functionality and day-to-day use of the tactical communications network.
  • Identify and report problems, units’ concerns and discrepancies to the Program Manager (PM) or headquarters functional managers.
  • Manage and document systems configurations, trouble incidents, test procedures, and test execution/results.
  • Coordinate system development tasks with other program engineering leads based on integration challenges and/or new requirements.
  • Provide oversight of the development and testing of SATCOM systems, baseband networking equipment, and software development for the core Tactical Networks systems.
  • Attend meetings and represent PM-TN at planning conferences conducted by the unit or other organizations.
  • Collaborate with key officials of all levels, Army and Tactical Networks Units, to coordinate and/or integrate operations and interests of the organizations.
  • Develop and present briefings as required to PM-TN and Unit personnel regarding current status of Configuration Items, Network Architecture planning, and/or test efforts.
  • Work closely with unit CFSRs, CECOM LARs, and S6 staff as well as other personnel to coordinate activities. Support network planning, network set up, configuration, troubleshooting and testing as well as teardown.
  • Serve as the official PM-TN validator of delivered communications equipment for PdM SATCOM, PdM, Network Modernization, and PdM Mission Networks.
