Armed Forces Network Technician


Netorian is currently recruiting for one (1) Armed Forces Network Technician to join our team in Afghanistan as the in-country network and system administrators to support United States Forces-Afghanistan (USFOR-A) under the Command, Control, Communications, Computers Information Technology (C4 IT) Services contract.

Job Description: The Armed Forces Network Technician will:

  • Support all Forward Operating Bases (FOBs)/Bases across Afghanistan with regards to the Armed Forces Network (AFN).
  • Install, upgrade, and maintain the cable distribution network and all associated equipment.
  • Erect, mount, maintain, and replace antenna masts whether installed on the ground or on rooftop to support AFN links and infrastructure.
  • Run and install cabling from roof antennae to distribution rooms and/or individual rooms as well as maintain cable distribution in equipment racks.
  • Install, upgrade, maintain head end units and all associated equipment and wiring that receives AFN and re-broadcasting signals.
  • Maintain the Commander's access channel.
  • Maintain/repair DVD to broadcast locally produced slide shows, locally produced video, etc.
  • Submit work orders for facility maintenance in order to support the TV distribution network. Such facility work orders may include but may not be limited to building power, HVAC, equipment grounding, etc.
  • Request new equipment, funding, and temporary manpower for large projects.
  • Ensure AFN equipment is registered with HQ AFN.
  • Submits budget requests and technical solutions for equipment associated with tasks.
  • Maintain, design, and upgrade TV distribution architecture.
  • Conduct inventory of existing TV distribution equipment.
  • Review existing TV distribution architecture.
  • Develop, design, and engineer technical solutions to improve audio/video quality and reliability.          


This position is based in Afghanistan. The Armed Forces Network Technician will work 72 hours a week and be available on call 24/7.

Skills and Detailed Experience Required:

  • Possess strong customer support/service skills.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a communication or information technology customer support role, elevated network, hardware, and software troubleshooting.
  • Possess basic knowledge of LAN/WAN and operating system principles for installation configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Provide AFN support, installation, configuration and technical support across the CJOA.

Additional Qualifications:

  • SECRET clearance required. 
  • Detail-oriented with technical, verbal, and written communication skills

  • High School Diploma
