Network Operations Watch Officer
Netorian is currently recruiting for one (1) Network Operations Watch Officer to join our team in Afghanistan as the in-country network and system administrators to support United States Forces-Afghanistan (USFOR-A) under the Command, Control, Communications, Computers Information Technology (C4 IT) Services contract.
Job Description: The Network Operations Watch Officer will:
- Serve as the Systems Support Lead interface between JNOSC-A Crew operations and external agencies (i.e. CENTCOM, DISA, ARCENT, AFCENT, NAVCENT, MARCENT and subordinate units).
- Shall provide, integrate, manage and support Network Operations while meeting the requirements, policies and standards as established by USFOR-A and JNOSC-A military leadership.
- Prepares and delivers situational awareness briefings and updates to appropriate channels of leadership.
- Ensures communication with operational chain of command according to regulations and procedures.
- De-conflict real-time air and space operations with NETOPS within the respective Area of Operations.
- Disseminates documentation pertinent to Cyberspace Operations within the AOO as directed by operational and/or organizational chains of command.
- Directs emergency restoration and recovery plans, ensuring positive control over network defense operations.
- Responsible for incident response, handling and reporting to higher headquarters (HHQ) by providing in-depth problem determination and aid in resolution.
- Ensures core services are available and/or operational to perform mission.
- Updates and maintains HHQ reports.
- Serves as a focal point for all external agency correspondence.
- Requires the necessary expertise to monitor and manage all issues related to the network to include the investigating, reporting and tracking of any unscheduled network outages.
- Leads technicians from multiple disciplines and organizations to develop and implement technical solutions to mitigate any unscheduled outages.
- Ensures the coordination of planned service outages between all affected groups on all network tiers; and the maintenance of the tools required to monitor the network.
- Staff must handle incidents either detected by network monitoring software or called in from network customers to ensure the best possible response.
- Staff shall also be responsible for processing all ASIs and shall ensure that all approving authorities concur or non-concur by the designated suspense date.
- While USFOR-A only administers army networks inside of Afghanistan, network operations coordinates with subordinate joint units (Air Force and Special Operations) and Higher Headquarters (DISA and CENTCOM) regarding network operations
This position is based in Afghanistan. The Network Operations Watch Officer will work 72 hours a week, Sunday - Saturday.
Skills and Detailed Experience Required:
- Minimum of 1 (one) year experience working as a Network Operations Watch Officer.
Additional Qualifications:
- SECRET clearance required for one position.
- Detail-oriented with technical, verbal, and written communication skills
