Netorian is seeking a Business Information Security Officer (BISO).

Education:

• A Bachelor’s degree, Masters in a related field preferred. 
• Experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Certifications:

• CISSP, CISM or equivalent industry certifications preferred.

Experience:

General Experience:

• This position requires a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in Information Security.

Specialized Experience:

• At least four (4) years of experience building and leading projects and teams in one or more information technology, development, or information security disciplines.
• At least four (4) years of specialized technical experience in one or more information technology, development, or information security disciplines.
• Working knowledge of security compliance, best practices, policy analysis, and risk assessments.
• Direct knowledge and experience with NIST-based assessments a plus.
• State or federal government experience a plus.
• Must be an excellent communicator verbally and in written form.
• Must have excellent organizational skills.

Description of Work:

Fair and free elections are a hallmark of American democracy. The Maryland voters’ confidence in the value of their vote is principally reliant on their confidence in the security and resilience of the infrastructure that makes the elections possible. SBE’s Cyber Security team is dedicated to working collaboratively with Local Boards of Election, State, local, and Federal partners to maintain an electoral process that is secure and resilient.

The BISO position reports to the State Board of Elections CISO and will play a critical role in leading and supporting key aspects of the SBE governance, security incident response, and threat detection programs.  This position will have both tactical and strategic roles.

The initial responsibilities will focus on performing day-to-day incident response and coordinating with SBE partners to build an enhanced incident response function at SBE. Activities, as directed by the respective functional area lead, as stated above include but are not limited to:

• Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive plans to secure SBE IT infrastructure.
• Document standards, procedures, runbooks
• Assist and lead in the management and implementation of cybersecurity projects.
• Monitor, respond, report on information security incidents.
• Identify threats and vulnerabilities in SBE systems and networks.
• Track and respond to information security alerts, events, and incidents.
• Direct/perform vulnerability testing.
• Prepare reports documenting vulnerabilities, incidents, lessons learned.
• Collaborate with management and IT teams to improve security.
• Assist in educating IT teams and end-users about security best practices.
• Research the latest in information technology security trends to keep up to date with the subject and use the latest technology to protect information.
